Service Description

Through this service, it is agreed to import animal products or by-products from outside the country and obtain a valid import permit for a period of 30 days from the date of issuance. These imported animal products or by-products are examined at the entry port and released after ensuring that they comply with the import permit and the necessary technical specifications.

Service Procedures

To obtain import permission:

Service Fees

100 AED for request for permission to import the consignment of animal products or waste
100 AED for request permission to import hatching eggs
500 AED for request to release the consignment of animal products or waste
500 AED for request to release the consignment of hatching eggs

Required Documents

Import:

  • No documents required

Release:

  • Certificate of origin issued by the competent authority/or CITES certificate in case of CITES –products and by-products
  • A customs declaration showing the consignment data
  • Bill of lading showing the delivery data

In addition to the above documents, it is necessary to provide documents for some of the shipment according to the following:

  • For consignment of non-treated animal products and by-products: certified veterinary health certificate issued by the competent veterinary authorities and in accordance with the approved models with the exporting countries
  • For the consignment of animal products and by- products Treatment: Certificate of treatment (thermal, chemical or salts) issued by the competent authority

Terms and Conditions

First: General Conditions:

  1. The facility must have a license to practice animal care activities that includes the main activity of importing and exporting animal by-product and sub-activities according to the by-product to be imported, which includes: raw hides, tanned and manufactured hides, bones, hooves and horns, wool, hair, lint, fur, fish and meat by-products, shells, feathers, guts and intestines and animal mummifications. Or the activity of importing and exporting animal products as a main activity and sub-activities depending on the products to be imported, including: table eggs, hatching eggs, packing, preserving and selling caviar and its products
  2. The consignment is in conformity with the data stated in the import permit
  3.  The treatment of animal products and by-products is permitted to be treated from all countries, provided that it is a transaction with proof of the required treatment method with the documents accompanying the consignment

Second: Special conditions:

  1. For consignments of untreated animal products and by-products:
  2. The health certificate should include:

In the case of products and by-products of Cloven animals -) sheep- goats- cattle)

  1. The products and by-products are derived from animals  came from a country or region recognized as free from foot-and-mouth disease by the World Organization for Animal Health, or from a country or region where no foot-and-mouth disease outbreaks was recorded for at least 12 months prior to export based on published periodic reports Of the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE), or from a country or region where the disease has not been recorded (with the implementation of the stamping out  policy) for a period not less than (3) months prior to exportation.
  2. The products and by-products are derived from animals came from a country located outside the geographical areas exposed to Rift Valley Fever disease or from a country where the disease has not been recorded for at least two years prior to export.
  3. The products and by-products are derived from animals came from country which has no case of Anthrax, or animals from establishment which has no record of anthrax for at least 20 days prior to export
  4. The products and by-products of birds come from areas free from highly pathogenic avian influenza and Newcastle for a period of not less than 3 months prior to export in the event of using the stamping out policy or for the period of 12 months prior to export in the absence of the use of the stamping out policy, and from farms free from other bird diseases for a period of not less than 3 months
  5. The hide and skins derived from cattle: from a country free from Lumpy Skin Disease (LSD) for at least the three years prior to export without application of vaccination policy or cow skins were stored for at least 40 days prior to exportation.
  6. The hide and skins derived from sheep and goats: from a country where Sheep pox and Goat pox has not been recorded for at least three years prior to export without the implementation of the stamping out policy or from a country where the disease has not been registered for at least 6 months prior to exportation if applying the stamping out policy.
  7. The production and processing establishments are subjected to governmental veterinary supervision.
  8. The consignment has been prepared to transport with clean and closed containers.

For the hatching eggs:

  1. The health certificate shall include the health conditions regulating the import according to the type of birds and the health status in the exporting country and in accordance with the forms of health certificates approved for import.

For table egg consignments:

The health certificate should include:

  1. Eggs and / or egg products are safe (safe) and fit for human consumption
  2. The operations of handling eggs and / or its products in an approved facility under the official supervision of the competent authority in the country of origin, and the food safety management system is applied according to the principles of the HACCP system or its equivalent.
  3. Good veterinary practices have been applied in the use of veterinary medicines including growth promoters and agricultural chemicals in poultry, and that any residues in eggs and / or its products are in compliance with Gulf requirements
  4. The health certificate in the event of import from countries affected with highly pathogenic avian influenza and Newcastle contains a statement stating (the import at level of free areas)  that the eggs are coming from areas free from highly pathogenic avian influenza and Newcastle for a period of not less than 3 months prior to export in the event of using the destruction policy or for a period of 12 months Pre-export in the event that the destruction policy is not used, and from farms free of other bird diseases for a period of not less than 3 months
