Workshops to Enhance the Food Security Strategy

Brief:

MOCCAE has a role in ensuring national food security by developing policies and initiatives that promote sustainable agriculture, food production, and supply chain resilience. As part of its ongoing efforts, MOCCAE is organizing workshops to engage key stakeholders in enhancing the UAE's food security strategy. These workshops will facilitate knowledge-sharing, policy discussions, and capacity-building to strengthen the country's food system.


Objectives:

  • Foster collaboration among government agencies, private sector stakeholders, and experts to enhance food security measures.
  • Identify innovative solutions and best practices for improving food production, supply chains, and sustainability.
  • Align food security strategies with national and global trends, including climate resilience and technological advancements.

Outcome

The results of the workshop showed the Ministry's reliance on mechanisms for accrediting food establishments abroad in detail through three main axes:

1. Products of animal origin

2. Mechanism for accrediting halal food products

3. Accreditation of conformity assessment bodies that play a pivotal role in verifying that food safety requirements are met
